Based on the work of Josephine Caruso, a beloved piano teacher and concert pianist, “Rubato”, by Noah Parnes, directed by Mia Fowler, imagines a conversation between an exacting piano teacher and the father of one of her students when his son wants to quit lessons. Do we demand that young children continue to study their instruments, which will likely yield many benefits in the long run, or do we allow them to make their own choices? Miranda played a character based on Ms. Caruso in this juried festival of original short plays.
